Oprah
Winfrey’s daytime audience is 8.6 million viewers. Women are
approximately 75% of that audience. Of those women, over half are
older than 50 years of age and 44% earn less than $40,000 annually. |
|
Furthermore,
according to Nielsen Media Research, about 25% have earned no more
than a high school diploma. |
|
Many of these
viewers fit the profile of typical Clinton supporters. |
|
These facts
indicate why Oprah Winfrey will likely impact the presidential
election -- and certainly the Democratic Party's nomination process
-- vis a vis Barack Obama. |
|
Everyone
should recall how Ross Perot impacted the 1992 presidential
election. He gave us Bill Clinton. |

Unintended Consequences |
|
Several months ago Oprah gave --
freely handed over -- dozens of brand new cars to some of her
followers. Her followers were ecstatic about owning new cars. |
|
However, soon their excitement was
diminished when they learned that they had to pay tax amounting to
several thousands of dollars on their gift-mobiles. |
|
Apparently Oprah, in her
hundreds-of-millions-of-dollar wealth had not been aware of the tax
liability also given to her followers when she gave them new cars.
Many Oprah followers could not afford to pay those taxes. |
|
Oprah and her
minions are so removed from the real world that they failed to
perceive the unintended consequences to their underlings who
received the cars. |
|
Oprah is a
recipient of massive wealth and winner in the US capitalistic
economic system. Oprah and her supporters should contemplate and
recognize the potential unintended consequences of honoring the
unworthy. |
|
Placing Barack Obama in the US presidency before he has been adequately
tested, gained first-hand experience, successfully weathered life's
trials and tribulations and survived without hand-outs and benefits
lubricating his ascent would be destructive. The US can not afford
to pay that price. |
